Les Forges
The village, nestled between hundred-year-old oak trees on the edge of the forest of Lanouée, dominates the castle of Lanouée (19th century), close to which the Duke of Rohan had a canon foundry built in 1756 by the service of the royal navy. The well-preserved blast furnace now seems to watch over what was once its domain.
It is installed close to a watercourse, the Lié and was built below a small canal, which supplies the forges (which ceased to operate in 1864). The canal still supplies a small hydroelectric factory built in 1934 by Mr Lévesque. Close by, the parish church, former chapel of the forge (18th and 19th century), houses a beautiful virgin child and a statue of Saint-Eloi, patron of blacksmithes.
